A Manor Fairytale: Wedding at The Briarcliff Manor

How They Met

Our beautiful Briarcliff Manor Couple, Lauren + Crispin tied the knot here just this past Fall. Their special day, from the floral centerpieces to the table seating, incorporated something very special to both of them – archery! Archery not only played a huge role in their wedding, but also in how they met!

Crispin is a three-time olympian in archery for the Canadian team, and made his way down to Florida to train for the 2012 London Olympics. This is where he met Lauren, also an archer. They definitely made an impression on each other because that following Spring in 2013, Crispin made plans to go back down to Florida for another training trip. After keeping in contact, Crispin knew he had to see Lauren again, and made up this training trip just to see her.

The Proposal

Lauren + Crispin’s proposal story is one that is straight out of a fairytale, as Crispin popped the question in a real life Castle!

When Crispin was asked to live announce the 2016 World Cup for Archery in Denmark, he knew it would be the perfect place to propose! Prior to their trip to Denmark, Crispin contacted Lauren’s Uncle about proposing with her Grandmother’s ring and made a trip down to Fort Lauderdale to pick up the ring and formally ask her parents for her hand in marriage! (So Sweet!)

Lauren, who graduated from undergrad with a degree in English, absolutely loves Shakespeare – her favorite play being Hamlet. So of course, she was so excited about getting the chance to see The Kronborg Castle in Helsingor.

The two sweethearts made their way to The Kronborg Castle and explored each of the beautiful rooms. After walking through the castle, Crispin picked the perfect room to propose – The Royal Chapel. Lauren, who was looking toward the front of the chapel turned around and there her Prince was, down on one knee, ring in hand. What a perfect proposal!

The Wedding

Crispin is Canadian, and Lauren is American, so when it came time to decide where they were going to start their life, they chose Toronto. After almost a year of compiling permanent residency for her to live in Toronto, the two decided that the fastest way to close the distance was to get married. On November 5, 2016 at Toronto City Hall, Crispin + Lauren officially became Mr. + Mrs. with their parents by their side.

When it came to having a fairytale wedding, Lauren + Crispin chose The Briarcliff Manor and a year later on November 5, 2017 tied the knot again in their dream come true wedding!

An absolute favorite moment here at the manor is the first look, and it’s one that was our beautiful bride’s favorite too! Just minutes before their ceremony started, with Crispin looking outside toward the aisle, Lauren came down the grand sweeping staircase and entered the ballroom. Lauren’s favorite moment was getting to see Crispin and the look on his face when he saw how beautiful she was!

When it came to their wedding at The Briarcliff Manor, they were so excited to experience all of those big wedding moments and traditions like exchanging vows, wedding bands, and their first dance as husband and wife – a standout moment for Lauren. Their wedding day was also a chance for them to share such a special time in their lives with their family and friends.

Another reason why their “second wedding” as they have taken to call it was such a special day for them was because their entire relationship up until their Briarcliff Manor wedding was spent living a part. Lauren + Crispin had much to celebrate as their second wedding marked the start of a beautiful new life finally living together! Their application to live together had been approved and after four years of long distance, Lauren moved to Toronto shortly after their second wedding, where the two have began their adventure together!
